I’ve seen them before on all of the network newscasts. Taser demonstrations undertaken by the local reporter. Last Tuesday night, two community publications writers were to be Tasered in a demonstration by the West Des Moines Police Department during a Citizen Police Academy meeting.
I’m not really sure what I had hoped to create heading into the event. My editor had mentioned what previous videos of the same topics had been like … video of the local reporter getting tasered, a large number of hits on the web site, and hearty laughs around the newsroom.
I am never entirely sure how “newsy” to make multimedia for the community publications, and this was no different. In any case, this video does not feature any Register reporters.
